El pasado 28 de octubre se celebró en la Complutense de Madrid una Jornada por el Grado de Antropología, la carrera en la que estudio actualmente.
Se trata de la creación de comisiones de trabajo para lograr con éxito que esta carrera se convierta en un Grado (licenciatura), frente al postgrado o master a la que inicialmente está avocada. Esta adaptación al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (la convergencia europea, el acuerdo de Bolonia), y el inicial rechazo que la ANECA ha manifestado respecto a esta profesión, (el organismo que regula las formaciones universitarias en nuestro pais), ha reactivado con fuerza a la comunidad de Antropólogos y estudiantes (entre los que me cuento), con el objetivo de redactar un Libro Blanco de la profesión que incluya todo lo necesario para convencer al gobierno que estamos hablando de una profesión necesaria para lo sociedad.

Pues para Madrid me fui con el estudio portátil encima y grabé en audio e imagen todo lo que allí ocurrió. Todo este material lo he convertido en una web que entregué a la comisión de trabajo. Casi 7 horas de audio, 40 fotografías y un resumen literal de lo que allí ocurrió.

Interactive designer Tom Jenkins made the audio shaker that traps anything sung, spoken, clapped, whistled or played near it and transforms this sound according to the shaker’s movements, subtle or violent.

LITERAL:
The audio shaker explores our perceptual understanding of sound. Anything sung, spoken, clapped, whistled or played near it is trapped inside, where it takes on an imagined yet tangible physicality. Sounds caught in this void are transformed, given weight and permanance, reacting directly to the shaker’s movements, subtle or violent. Shaken sounds have to settle down before becoming still and silent, behaving more like fluid than transient energy.

The linear timescale of sound is broken, a conversation is split into words and mixed up in the shaker, and can be poured out separately, tipped out in a simultaneous spalsh or added to and shaken up further.
Put simply, it is a tactile container to capture, shake up and pour out sounds. Creating a rich, intuitive experience that is purposefully open to interpretation and imagination.

Sound and me consisteix a donar la paraula a persones implicades en el camp del so. Amb l’objectiu de construir un espai neutre i horitzontal de recepció del so, l’exposició s’articula en tres canals sense categoritzacions ni diferenciacions, reduint la mostra a uns auriculars que permetran a l’oient escoltar-la i visitar-la movent-se lliurement per les sales del CASM. La selecció intenta comprendre a alguns dels agents sonors fonamentals en la creació contemporània, ja siguin artistes, músics, gestors, comissaris, teòrics, productors, tècnics o d’altres professionals.
David Armengol i Martí Manen són comissaris independents.

El espacio gigante de la Tate lo ocupa en esta ocasión Bruce Nauman con una instalación sonora. En el link uno puede hacerse la idea del montaje, y escucharlo.

Language has always played a central role in Bruce Nauman’s work, providing him with a means of examining how human beings exist in the world, how they communicate or fail to communicate. For Raw Materials, he has selected 22 spoken texts taken from existing works to create an aural collage in the Turbine Hall. Removed from their original context, the individual texts and voices become almost abstract elements, taking on new meanings as they are rearranged as part of a single work.
Raw Materials also draws on Nauman’s fascination with space, and the ways it can alter our behaviour and self-awareness. The Turbine Hall has /been organised so that visitors encounter ‘bands of sound’ that run in strips across its width. No other physical changes have been made to the space. Sound becomes a sculptural material in itself, one that orchestrates and measures its surroundings.
The Turbine Hall is filled with voices, some clearly audible, others indistinct, which merge with new, ‘found’ sound from the voices of visitors. In Raw Materials, Nauman has transformed this cavernous space into a metaphor for the world, echoing to the endless sound of jokes, poems, pleas, greetings, statements and propositions.

Hoy hace exactamente un mes que dejé Vigo para trasladarme a vivir a Cuenca. A la segunda semana recibí la llamada de opaco que me anunciaba una primera visita; vendría con su familia (Tis+opedriño) en una auto-caravana y estarían un par de días aquí antes de continuar su viaje hacia el sur. Ya antes de Madrid Tis se encontraba mal, así que poco después llamaron a una ambulancia y se trasladaron al Hospital Gregorio Marañón. Para allí salí yo pitando y pasé mi primera noche con opedriño (mientras sus padres se ocupaban de su salud). La auto-caravana estaba aparcada en una calle cercana al pirulí de TV (yo siempre pensé que allí trabajaba Maria Teresa Campos, ja, ja, ja) así que mi misión consistía en cuidar a la criatura (biberón incluido) y defenderla de hipotéticos ataques de criaturas robadoras de seres diminutos. Cumplí con éxito mi papel (estaba dispuesto mentalmente a llegar a cualquier extremo, como la película francesa IRREVERSIBLE, por ejemplo, se me ocurre que de este modo puedo contaros mi entrega), y todo salió bien. Lo más importante para mí, aparte de cumplir este papel, fue que estreché mi vínculo con la criatura y llegué a comunicarme con él profundamente en ese lenguaje tan peculiar que habla él.

Al día siguiente trasladaron a su madre al nuevo Materno-Infantil, y aquí precisamente está la trampa que os conté hace ya casi 15 días. Os comentaba que había pasado un fin de semana en un hotel de Moneo, ja, ja, ja, y así fue (este hospital lo construyó ese arquitecto). Aquí tenéis la foto que lo testifica. La 15-C era la habitación en la que estaba la familia Comesaña, y digo estaba, porque la historia tuvo un final feliz, como las buenas historias. Un beso para los tres. Ah!, queda pendiente la visita.

Finis just announced the SwiMP3, a waterproof MP3 player which uses bone conduction to vibrate the sound directly into your head via your cheek bones (it actually attaches to your goggle straps, but we’ve also seen a prototype for goggles with a bone conduction MP3 player built right in). They don’t much storage capacity, but they say it has enough space for 30 songs, which sounds like it should clock in somewhere around 128MB.

ARKAIK_ is an interactive-architecture piece which allows users to navigate through a virtual space, visually inspired in the main hallway and archs of Barcelona’s Convent de San Agustì, a structure from 15th century.

This transit space, as architectural design, is already of a conceptual/constructive nature. ARKAIK_ is an exploration of the ‘transformations’ and ‘modifications’ that every space experiences through the changes of its use in time. A 3-dimensional environment responsive to the viewer, transformable through user interaction in real-time.
