«The Ear to the Earth Network is a worldwide community, a communication network, a series of events, and a host of other activities.

Our goal is to foster engagement with environmental issues through sound art and multimedia. We seek to form new dialogues and deepen existing ones between environmental activists, scientists, sound artists, and the public, and to bring all interested people into those dialogues. […] As composers, musicians, sound artists, multimedia artists, and others working on and interested in Ear to the Earth, we asked other questions: Can we engage ourselves in the real world? Can music be a vehicle for exploring real world problems? What can we do? How can we inspire active sensitivity and engagement in environmental issues?

Our answers: Listening to the world is one good way to become more sensitive to the environment.
