The project is an installation of turntable sculptures playing records wtih endless grooves. Each of those specially produced 12inch vinyl records have up to 100 endless grooves. Each groove containing an endless 1.8 sec. music loop at 133BPM.
The installation is a room filled with up to five “compact/box” modules and each module represents one “instrument” within an “orchestra” of turntables.
During the installation the audience is asked to change the playing loops on each of the modules. That leads to a constantly changing sound and rhythm.
You can play with this concept in our virtual installation
The “compact/box” module contains one record player on top of the module, one (mono) 2 way speaker system (360 degree sound).
With just one power cord leading to each of the modules they are extremly moveable.
“compact/box” is a project of Bernhard Moosbauer and Oliver B. Rubli.
