Generator.x (proyecto dedicado al software y al arte generativos) estuvo presente en el Club Transmediale con varias actividades, que incluyeron un par de presentaciones públicas del trabajo de algunos artistas que trabajan con estrategias generativas aplicadas al arte y al diseño, un workshop, una noche de performances audiovisuales y una exhibición.

La noche dedicada a las performances audiovisuales tuvo lugar el viernes en Ballhaus Naunystrasse e incluyó a tres artistas que emplean procesos generativos para generar audio y video: Alexander Rishaug [NO] + Marius Watz [NO], Keiichiro Shibuya [JP] y Alva Noto [DE] con su trabajo Xerrox.

Alongside Alexander Rishaug’s audio miniatures in interaction with Marius Watz’s drawing machines, and Japanese Keiichiro Shibuya’s digital noise based on cellular automata, Carsten Nicolai aka alva noto will present his new project, “xerrox”, in which he explores the artistic potential and unpredictable results of copy processes. Nicolai demonstrates that the act of copying is itself a source of interesting, artistically valuable mistakes and mutations that permit each new generation of a copy to further liberate itself from the original and ultimately become an independent artwork with new meaning. In “xerrox” alva noto works exclusively with samples of Muzak – the wraparound sound ubiquitous in department stores, advertising, film scores and entertainment software – yet uses his own specially developed copying techniques to alter its melodic (micro-)structures beyond recognition.

La exhibición esta situada en la galería DAM y se puede visitar hasta el uno de marzo. Incluye trabajos de Jared Tarbell (US), Commonwealth (US), Theverymany (FR/US), Leander Herzog (CH), Marius Watz (NO) y de los participantes del workshop. En ella se muestran objetos creados con la técnica del «fabbing» o digital fabrication [+info]
