Interactive Surround Sound Cube (ISS Cube)The ISS cube is a surround sound mixer that tracks the position of several physical objects on a tabletop surface to provide the user with an intuitive way of creating a non-linear soundscape. Sounds of different categories can be added, combined and positioned in space by simply moving these objects. The sound space is provided by four surrounding speakers.

Each object functions individually and simultaneously to modify the volume and position of different sound sources. With common audio mixing consoles and systems this would however not be possible as each sound source is usually mixed one after the other. The limitation is due to the nature of the input devices: joysticks on surround consoles and single mouse input on software systems.

Sound has a substatial impact on our mood. The users of the system can easily change their mood by recreating their spatial sound scenary. For example, nature sounds can be positioned within the space to create a calm and natural environment. To evoke the ambience of a forest, one could have a waterfall in one corner of the room, birds singing in another and the wind whistling through trees.

The low-tech appearance- a wooden box with a glass surface- allows the cube to fit easily into a living environment, as if it were a piece of furniture.

Due to the multiple input devices, the square tabletop display, which enables equal access from all sides, invites collaborative interaction.

The project was shown on several occasions, including the Cybersonica Festival and the Bafta Interactive Festival.

Soundscape-fm : Berlin is a collaborative soundwork in the city of Berlin from 4-8 of February 2005. Inspired by the successful Soundscape FM project, which took place during the Garage Festival in Stralsund of this year, it takes the form of a FM radio broadcast and a user-uploadable database with field recordings taken from the city of Berlin.

During four days, sound artists, amateur sound hunters, phonographers, among other interested participants, will collaborate on gathering sounds from different places within the city of Berlin. A physical workspace, located in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, will be a post-production booth for the gathered sounds which can be uploaded immediately in a database system. The uploaded sounds are accessible online via an interactive sound map of the city, and will be broadcasted via several local FM radio stations in Berlin during the Festival.

El motor de indexación de Google es tan intrusivo, que haciendo las consultas pertinentes permite acceder a muchas de esas cámaras. Google nos puede mostrar cientos de ellas, algunas no funcionan, en otras sus admins las tienen protegidas con contraseñas, pero una gran parte de ellas pueden desviar su ojo “indiscreto” a nuestras pantallas de ordenador. Permitiendonos incluso jugar con las vistas laterales, los zooms, etc… Indagando por Inet buscando cuales son esos “conjuros mágicos” que hay que lanzar a Google, descubrí los siguientes métodos de búsqueda, que nos permitirán entrar, ver y reflexionar sobre la privacidad de unxs y la vigilancia de otrxs…algo de miedo seguro que nos da.

Mucho se ha escrito de este filme del danés von Trier. Y bueno tampoco es que yo considere que es la mejor película ni nada de eso, pero sí que tengo ciertamente mucha estima por este ensayo que recién ha publicado >>Forward [un espacio y un tiempo para la cultura audiovisual], escrito por fran ilich y republicado en su versión original también hace poco.

Es interesante el hecho de que fuese él mismo cámara, guionista y director; sin mencionar el hecho de que en “Dogville” se subraya el punto de tensión donde se localiza el personaje-escritor, una trama que lo hace no sólo consciente de que es una persona que puede crear cambios sociales, sino también que debe enseñar a través del ejemplo y no sólo centrarse en escribir la “gran novela americana”. De una forma que puede pasar casi desapercibida, Von Trier consigue dirigir el debate del narrador y las historias de forma que recuerda a la sociedad sobre su propia realidad, les hace pensar sobre ello y de forma esperanzadora les incita a una mejora. Piensa en Bretch y Boal, olvídate de Aristóteles.

Ajuntament de Calaf

Se convoca la tercera edición del certamen Idensidad Calaf/ Manresa 05, promovido por los ayuntamientos de Calaf y de Manresa, Generalitat de Catalunya y la Diputación de Barcelona; y con la intención de congregar una serie de personas vinculadas a prácticas creativas relacionadas con el espacio público, ya sea a través de prácticas de intervención o de debate abierto y crítico. Idensidad es un programa que convoca proyectos, promueve intervenciones y propone debates. Espacio comunitario, interacción, identidad, comunicación, confrontación, participación, conflicto son elementos que, vinculados a factores sociales y culturales propios del lugar, devienen instrumentos activadores para proyectar e intervenir en el espacio público desde el ámbito de la creación. La presente edición plantea canalizar esos parámetros de trabajo hacia un tema concreto: el crecimiento y la expansión urbana, un fenómeno emergente a los dos municipios en que el proyecto tiene lugar, Calaf y Manresa, y que redefinirá, en un futuro cercano, su contexto social y cultural.

-Bugfix: Red D. Sometimes the “Red D” flashed When two or more clips lay directly after each other.
-Bugfix: Vinyl Effect. When a Live set was rendered containing a Vinyl audio effect the drive parameter was not rendered right.
-Bugfix: [OS X] Removing MIDI interface devices. Live would crash when more than one MIDI interface device was removed at the same time. This fixes a crash when Live was running parallel to Max/Msp and Max/Msp crashed.
-Improvement: Follow Actions. When dragging a clip on the warper view the follow actions will be copied now.

Al recorrido usual por las calles de Madrid se sumarán las lecturas de 14 artistas que, a través de la creación de obras sonoras instaladas en las paradas de autobús, evocarán otras formas de relación con los distintos contextos que definen una ciudad.

A partir de mayo de 2005 podrás escuchar a través de tus auriculares las obras sonoras creadas por cada artista para el contexto específico de la ciudad que hayan elegido, ya que desde entonces permanecerán instaladas en una selección de paradas de autobús hasta septiembre de 2005.
