The Sound Projector is personal, speculative, humourous, eccentric and discursive – it is simply an open platform for ideas, pointers, directions, the million and one ways in which the drug of music can short-circuit your brain, expand your horizons, and connect you to your inner being. So please, dear reader, do not write to me correcting any factual errors you find in these pages, else I shall simply lose the will to live. There’s enough such information in the world, surely there’s a place for a little creative thinking on the subject.

It is not a ‘happening’ magazine, a lot of what we cover is probably out of date. We refer to records and compact discs that we have purchased in the last five or six years, and in some cases to rare records that are long out of print. In neither case do we guarantee that you can purchase any of them; we provide you with full discographical details just in case you wish to try ordering them up, but also for the sake of accuracy. We hope to show you new ways in which to exercise your own imagination when selecting and listening to records, and aim to enhance the listening experience for all.

This web site features excerpts from the magazine, as a primer to encourage you to purchase the real, paper article. However, The Sound Projector is heavily illustrated, and we present many of the images here in glorious colour for the first time. Enjoy!
