welcome to the netlabel battle website.

the battle is a friendly competition, held periodically, where netlabel owners enter one or two of their artists to compete against other netlabels.

while the battle is a project merely for fun, it is also a good form of artist and label promotion:

the winning label will be featured on numia’s website until the beginning of the next battle and will also be given an advantage for indirect contributions at the netaudio donation center (coming soon).

the top two musicians of the battle will have a vinyl pressed with their winning songs plus additional unreleased tracks, which they can use as promotional material. each artist will receive 10 free copies of the 100 pressed; the rest will be distributed by numia itself for promotion or sold to cover costs.

TALLER DE DISPOSITIVOS FÍSICOS PARA INTERACCIÓN EN TIEMPO REAL CON MEDIOS DIGITALES

Introducción
El taller “open hardware lab” esta planteado como un laboratorio de investigación y experimentación audiovisual a partir de medios electrónicos desarrollados en el propio taller. El temario se adecuará a los intereses y conocimientos de los participantes.
¿Quién puede participar?
El taller esta dirigido a un amplio espectro de participantes: artistas digitales y de intermedios, diseñadores multimedia, músicos, performers/bailarines, videoartistas, programadores, arquitectos, … No hace falta tener conocimientos de electrónica ni programación (aunque son bienvenidos).
Objetivo
La idea es enriquecernos todos a partir de una concurrencia multidisciplinaria.
Temario a tratar
El taller estara dividido en 2 semanas, una de teoria y otra de prácticas. Al finalizar el curso se realizara un proyecto final donde se pondrá en práctica lo aprendido en el curso. Los principales temas a tratar serán:

*Introducción a los sistemas y entornos interactivos.
*Ejemplos de aplicaciones en performance e instalaciones.
*Modelos comerciales de interfaces y sensores.
*Software comercial.
*Entornos de programación orientados a objetos (Pure Data).
*Sistemas de captura de movimiento por video.
*Sintesis y procesamiento de imagen y sonido.
*Elementos básicos de electrónica y microcontroladores.
*Cómo construir tu propia interface.
*Tipos de sensores.
*Opciones Low-Tech de bajo coste.
*Actuadores: Control de luces y dispositivos eléctricos.

Aprovechando su paso por Madrid, no hemos querido dejar pasar la oportunidad de organizar un pequeño encuentro para disfrutar de la obra de Jorge Cortés (Receptor). Jorge viene de Santiago de Chile, desde donde dirige el sello de música electrónica Ojo de Apolo. Desde 1997 hasta el 2002 trabajó como Cáncer, desarrollando un cruce entre la intimación y sonidos pulsantes, acompañado de paisajes granulares. Destacar su último trabajo, CD compartido con Ok Suitcase, editado en el sello portugués Crónica Electrónica, así como sus actuaciones en el Goethe Institut (Chile), Hoerbar (Hamburgo) y el Museo de Ciencias Naturales de Buenos Aires.

Still Important Somekind Not Normally Seen (Always Not Unfinished) is Crónica’s fourteenth release and documents an astonishing performance by Heimir Björgúlfsson, Pimmon and Helgi Thorsson, recorded live at the Melkfabriek, Den Bosch on october 5-6th 2002, later edited by Robert Hampson at Thirst, London in november-december 2002.
Still Important Somekind Not Normally Seen (Always Not Unfinished) output was originally comissioned by Earational Festival. All tracks by Heimir Björgúlfsson, Pimmon and Helgi Thorsson. Special thanks to Anton Viergever without whom this would have been completely impossible.
